running runs

Life can be so.. difficult sometimes. I love my mini, shes cute, funloving, and brings a smile to my face everytime I drive her and the only thing better than driving her (which I try to do daily to keep me sane) is meeting up with other mini nuts who get just as excited as me about their, and others cars. The problem is getting them together! Between everyones work and personal lives just getting 4 or 5 of us together once a month seems to be a task worthy of Olympic medal status! Now theres currently 239 registered users on the KZN Mini Owners Club forum, given there are some who live quite some distance away so lets call it 180 in South Africa, devided between all the provances, call it 40 or so in the imediate area. Amazingly theres maybe 10 of us actively on the Forum and of these only 2 or 3 of us regularly turn out to the runs! Perhaps I shouldnt complain too much, at least we do get to meet up from time to time. I just cant help wondering where all the mini drivers are! Daily I'll see 3 or 4 minis of all shapes and sizes driving around Durban, and yet... Maybe we just need to get out there a bit more, spread the word kind of thing, the club members are all nice guys (and girls) perhaps all we need is a little advertising. Something I think I'll put my head around over the next few days, who knows maybe with a bit of publicity we can get every mini owner in Durban to join us!! certainly its a lovely sight having a string of minis stretching out along the road, perhaps we'll get some photos of that one day, till then, heres the website, no time like the present hey :D http://www.atfreeforum.com/kznmini/viewforum.php?f=6&mforum=kznmini

distractions and neglect

gee has it really been that long??! I swear I just blinked! although to be fair I have been keeping track of my movements on another site, after deciding that rusty was too far gone for my abilities *ahem* funding, i sold her to a nice young chap who is going to restore it with the help of his father. in the mean time I sold my colt and purchased a lovely little panelvan together with a mk 1 discovery. shortly after i crashed the mini and after sobbing on the roadside for a short while (people were starting to stare!) i got her in to the panel beater and resprayed, full details and lots of photos are on the kzn mini owners club forum here: http://www.atfreeforum.com/kznmini/viewtopic.php?t=764&mforum=kznmini i must say im quite pleased with the results, how about you? :)

Recession sessions

What a rollercoaster the last few months have been. Between all the medical and sandblasting bills I havnt had much leftover to spoil Rusty, however now that all the doors and panels are back I can start chipping away at all those nasty rust holes.

And boy are theres holes! from the bonnet to the tailboard theres atleast one little hole peeping out. so theres should be more than enough to keep me occupied for a little while at least.

On the plus side I was able to find a little extra (mainly through tradeing off some of the parts I didnt need from another shell) to afford a fuel tank and new side glass - of the sliding sort.

I am however having to hold off the purchase of another mini to provide donor parts for the many other parts im still waiting for, and im sure you'll agree with me the fuel tank does need just a little work before going into the car. so heres to the next payday... I'm sure it'll come around sometime... I hope. oh well best go crack out the wealding gear then, wish me luck
